Edge Assist

Originally founded as Southside Care Inc, Edge Assist was established in 1995 to provide a range of services to serve and support the community.

There are three key areas of care we provide:


Schools Program

Our Schools Program includes a variety of different initiatives, including:

  1. A Breakfast Program providing nutritional breakfasts to high school students in various schools throughout Adelaide. The objective of the program is to boost achievement rates, particularly among disadvantaged and malnourished kids, by providing a healthy start to their day.
     
  2. Back to School Packs are given to Year 8 students in several high schools at the commencement of the academic year. The packs include an extensive range of stationary, food items, drinks, vouchers for recreational facilities and more.
     
  3. Other Programs in local schools include assisting with events such as sports days, school camps and conducting lunchtime mentoring programs, school renovations, teacher morning teas and one-on-one student training.

Family Support Program

Our Family Support Program provides services to individuals and families in crisis or short-term financial difficulty, as well as those living with a disability or other disadvantage.

The main services provided are:

  1. Food Hampers

  2. Mobile Feeding Program
    Tuesdays 5pm, Anne Close, Christie Downs (Housing Trust Estate)
    Wednesdays 5pm, Corner Melsetter Road and Lindisfarne Road

Services are provided in collaboration with business or community partners who provide a range of support from supplying bread for the food hampers, to facilities for distribution of the feeding program.

Partners include:

  • Drake Foodmarkets who operate a shopper docket incentive scheme in which a percentage of returned Drake supermarket dockets are paid to Edge Assist
  • Foodbank SA
  • Bakers Delight, Woodcroft

Relocation Service

A relocation service is available to move or re-locate low income individuals or families, those in crisis or new migrants or refugees additional services include moving heavy objects or relocating furniture or whitegoods within the homes of the disabled or aged.

The program is supported by community business partners such as Drake Foodmarkets.
